Daily Prompt: Key Takeaway
I’m a new blogger, at least on a personal level. There’s so much I want to say and write about. For you experienced bloggers out there, how do you pick and choose topics for your content? How do you filter yourself?

First of all, welcome to WordPress. I hope you find your time here rewarding. I don’t think that there’s any tried and true formula for picking topics. At least I don’t have one. I write when I’m moved to by some unseen force and about a topic which may have just come to me out of the blue. Then I try to convey the thoughts as if I was in conversation with an acquaintance; and not necessarily a close one. Makes sense to me anyway. Enjoy yourself and keep writing.
Thanks for your advice!
I’m not an experienced blogger but I would start off writing what you like blogging about. It’s not all about the fame, fortune, or power; it’s about your creativity and the message you want to send to the world. Just make sure your craft is your craft; make it unique with your touch that make people repeat your flow in conversation. Pick something that means a lot to you, branch out from it. Choose a variation of the subject and keep branching. Much like writing, reading is a must. You have to see what other people have written; to gain new insights on how you perceive information or to learn something completely new. Hope this helps.
I’m totally with you on reading other blogs. I’ve learned so much and have read so many great pieces just in the last few days as I’ve browsed around. It’s incredibly inspiring to see so many great writers out there, all over the world.
I’m rather new to blogging as well, but I’ll throw in my two cents. Unless your goal is to quickly amass a horde of followers for whatever reason people want to do that, I wouldn’t worry about blogging “correctly.” If there are things you want to write about, write about them! Chances are someone will enjoy reading them. Accept that you probably won’t be that happy with your first few posts (and maybe the ones after that), but post them anyway. Learn as you go, and have fun. 🙂
I agree about… don’t worry about blogging “correctly”. There’s no such thing as blogging “correctly”. Just blog the way you think it should be done and maybe some of the “more experienced” bloggers will learn something from you.
I write about things I love and things that matter to me.
Always good advice 🙂
I take my inspiration from the books I read and usually can tie them in with a certain social issue of today. . . Something I’ve seen in passing. . . An interaction with someone else that day. . . There are many avenues for inspiration!
